How I combined the world of heavy machinery with space-grade precision – the story of collaboration between SCORPION.PL and Projekt SCORPIO

Innovation is rarely born in a vacuum. It usually happens at the intersection of seemingly distant worlds. Today I want to tell you about a project that perfectly illustrates this.

My career path led me to SCORPION.PL from Rozdrażew in Greater Poland, a manufacturer of heavy-duty machines for processing herbs, teas, and spices. I’ve always believed that responsible business supports young inventors.

However, I wanted something more. I wanted to show that our machines, powerful though they are, are also remarkably precise. And what speaks better to precision than space engineering?

Strength and precision: a bridge connecting business and science

By chance while on vacation, I met the family of one of the young people from Projekt SCORPIO – a student team from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology who passionately build advanced Mars rovers. Their work requires absolute accuracy. Of course, I didn’t hesitate long, as I saw this as a great fit and an opportunity for collaboration – not just as support, but also as a fantastic marketing opportunity. My 20 years of experience allowed me to bring these two worlds together.

SCORPION.PL undertook the production of precisely turned elements and other components for the students. It was an ideal win-win situation. The students gained access to state-of-the-art machinery and our practical knowledge, as well as the opportunity to attend international exhibitions alongside our machines, while we could prove that we manufacture devices accurate enough to meet the challenges even of the space industry.

A great example of our commitment and flexibility was when the team was heading to Kraków for an international Mars rover competition. We had to make custom bushings for their rover’s manipulator. The SCORPIO team was driving from Wrocław to Kraków for the competition, and I had to organize transport for two bushings to Kraków so the team could install the parts before the event. The parts arrived by train from Ostrów to Kraków, and it wouldn’t have worked out if not for the extremely kind train conductors… 🙂 . A component for a Martian rover travelled by train from Ostrów to Kraków to help win an international rover competition!

Today, the students from Projekt SCORPIO take part in international competitions, proudly promoting the SCORPION.PL brand in the process. Their success is the success of their scorpion.pl partners!

This is tangible proof that supporting young talent is not only social responsibility, but also a strategic investment in the future.

I believe this model of cooperation is the future. Business and science should work hand in hand, supporting each other in building projects that change the world.
